Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida, Christmas Outreach Project
This year’s Annual Christmas Outreach Project focused on the families served by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida (RMHCCF). Each of McCoy’s branches and departments decorated Christmas cards with words of cheer, stickers, ribbons, and drawings. Then, the Marketing Team delivered them to the Ronald McDonald Houses at AdventHealth, Orlando Health, and Nemours. The cards were placed in gift baskets that included items from each of the house’s wish lists. RMHCCF offers a comfortable and inviting place to stay for families with children receiving treatment at one of the hospitals. This service offers a homey alternative to a hotel stay. Through these efforts, McCoy team members brought some holiday cheer to those who are dealing with the unimaginable this season.
U.S. Marines Toys for Tots
In partnership with 27 Community Connection, McCoy hosted a Marine Corps Toys for Tots Drive at 13 Central Florida branches. From November 8 to December 8, McCoy Members and Team Members collected new, unused toys for children of all ages. This included Barbie dolls, Hot Wheels cars, board games and more. The collection drive covered each county that McCoy serves: Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake.
Shred Day 2021
After two years of not being able to hold our most anticipated event, Shred Day was back on November 6. Scout Troop 996 and Iron Mountain assisted members with safely disposing of their shredding items at the McCoy Road Branch. Items included documents, file folders, envelopes, checkbooks, and more. We had a great day filling up almost two trucks full, with over 300 vehicles in attendance!
Overture Hamlin, Holiday Shopping and Scams Seminar
On November 18, the Marketing Team hosted a Holiday Shopping and Scams Seminar for the residents of Overture Hamlin. The event featured activities and tasty snacks as well as education about staying safe while shopping online this holiday season. Topics included tips for protecting your personal and financial information online, common scams, and how McCoy keeps their members safe. The McCoy team had a great time growing our relationship with Overture Hamlin and look forward to our next event!
Grand Reserve at Lee Vista, Financial Education Day
On November 30, the Marketing Team hosted a Bingo night at Grand Reserve at Lee Vista. While learning about finances and how to avoid holiday shopping scams, residents also played to win $10 Amazon gift cards.
Community Sponsorships and Donations
Through our partnership with 27 Community Connection, McCoy sponsored the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night virtual event. We also sponsored the Seniors First Inc. Turkey Trot 5k, which benefitted Meals on Wheels and other senior programs. Joggers, runners, and walkers dressed in full Thanksgiving costumes or themed hats to support seniors in our community.
On November 6, the McCoy Team attended the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando’s Furball Gala as a Silver Paw Sponsor. This event was held at the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World. The team had a blast supporting the animals and the organization.
McCoy also had the honor of contributing to local partners. This includes sponsoring the West Orange Chamber's Golf Classic and the African American Chamber's 2nd Annual Golf Outing. We also sponsored the Athletic Connection Foundation’s 3rd Annual “Florida Get Down” Holiday Basketball Showcase. Orlando Community Arts, Inc.'s production of “Clara and the Chocolate Nutcracker” was sponsored by McCoy as well.
This holiday season, McCoy Cares gave back to the community by donating to Thrive Church Apopka’s Holiday Outreach programs. We assisted the Ocoee Police Department by contributing to their “Holiday Toys for Kids in Need” program. Additionally, McCoy team members donated, wrapped and delivered Christmas gifts for 99 Lancaster Elementary School students. The company also supported the Children’s Miracle Network’s Dance Marathon at the University of Florida. McCoy donated Junior VA Police Badge stickers to the Veterans Affairs Police Department to distribute during holiday events.
